SCUZZY THOUGHTS: METZ have taken over everything you love, it was only a matter of time. These guys are everywhere and for once... it's greatly deserved. The Toronto based noise punk trio have been playing for nearly five years, and it seems they're truly just getting started. We first caught the band back in 2010 and were blown away by their blaring attack and violent creativity. The band's sound is rooted in noise rock with grungy hooks buried under the surface, and guys simply pour it on live. Now signed to Sub Pop, their debut record captures the live intensity and garbled ferociousness. The booming rhythm section is like a tank sent to destroy all in sight, with the guitar and vocals gasping for air just below the dense storm of it all. Like The Jesus Lizard in a fuzz storm or Nirvana's derranged cousin left to fester in the basement all these years, METZ are quickly becoming one of the most exciting bands in punk. METZ, we salute you.
