Quick Notes: PILE, Steve Brodsky, Glassjaw, Screaming Females, Minus The Bear, Soundgarden

*[brooklynvegan.com] Boston punks Pile are set to release their new album, Dripping, on October 23 via Exploding In Sound Records. They've revealed the track, "Prom Song," from that album on their Bandcamp, and we've got another, "Bump a Grape," in this post, which you can stream below. I might just have Titus Andronicus in my head because I've been listening to their album all week, but I'm definitely getting similar punk 'n' roll vibes from this new Pile track to Titus' stuff, and like Patrick Stickles, Pile frontman Rick Maguire yearns with a raw, nasally yet throaty voice.

Pile will be supporting the new record with a tour that hits NYC on October 20 at The Paper Box in Brooklyn during CMJ and then again on October 30 at Muchmore's.

A list of all tour dates can be found HERE and the song stream is below.

*[theprp.com] While we will likely never hear the proper Verge-In team up; a Cave In and Converge collaboration is still is in the works. Cave In singer/guitarist Steve Brodsky and Converge drummer Ben Koller have laid down 7 tracks for their as-yet untitled new project together, with Brodsky recently telling Thealtreview.net:

“Ben and I have Andrew Schneider onboard this month to mix 7 songs that we recorded ourselves last summer. We’re stoked to put this twisted mutant noise into the world soon… however, we still need a good name! Any suggestions?”

*[theprp.com] Glassjaw have been booked to play the “Unsilent Night Festival” at the Centennial Hall in Dallas, Texas on December 01st. The band will be headlining the Plug Your Holes stage with many more set to perform.

Glassjaw being Glassjaw, the group are offering an exclusive shirt as part of a ticket bundle for the show. It features the charming slogan of “eat my shit” and can be purchased at Merchdirect.com.

*[stereogum.com] Screaming Females were on tour with Garbage — which is a good look — and on Tuesday night in Houston, Garbage’s Shirley Manson brought out Marissa Paternoster to cover Patti Smith’s “Because The Night.” Some decent live footage surfaced on the ‘Tube, so you can check out the performance HERE.

*[theprp.com] A limited edition 2xLP pressing of Minus The Bear‘sInfinity Overhead” will hit stores through Dangerbird Records on November 19th. No word on whether or not any extras will be included.

*[theprp.com] A deluxe version for Soundgarden‘s first new studio album in over 15 years, “King Animal“, is in the works. The special edition of the effort will exclusively feature the demo versions of the three new album tracks: “Worse Dreams“; “Black Saturday” & “By Crooked Steps“.

Both the standard and deluxe editions of the album will see a November 13th release through Universal Republic.
