*[press release] Sludge-pop duo Tweak Bird released their new EP Undercover Crops this month via Volcom Entertainment. The band, who is currently wrapping up an extensive tour with the Melvins, has unveiled a new video for the track "the Weight."

Filmed at the American Legion Hall in Highland Park, CA, Tweak Bird's music video for "The Weight" captures the intensity of the band's live performance balanced with imagery of exploring the need for release.

Brothers Ashton and Caleb Bird, now based in Los Angeles by-the-way-of Southern Illinois, have been making loud, heavy music together for a better part of a decade in various incarnations. Undercover Crops was recorded over a long weekend in June with Toshi Kasai and features seven catchy, melodic and poppy, yet very heavy, stoned-out and shoegazing tracks.

*[brooklynvegan.com] The Intelligence just debuted the video for their track "Hippy Provider" from this year's terrific Everybody's Got it Easy But Me (stream it at Spotify). The clip features a sweet '80s-style Fisher all-in-one stereo system (that goes well with the "Freedom Rock" referencing lyric) and the sunny skies of Los Angeles where main brain Lars Finberg resides these days when not on the road. You can watch it below.

*[press release] San Francisco's KOWLOON WALLED CITY are set to release their much anticipated sophomore album, Container Ships, on December 4th via Brutal Panda Records. Their first record in three years was recorded at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, CA, this past August with guitarist/vocalist Scott Evans handling the production duties. Led by poignant guitar melodies soaked in malaise and a powerful rhythm section, Container Ships flawlessly combines elements of sludge, post-rock and indie rock to create a truly unforgettable, heavy as an oil tanker, listening experience. The lead track "The Pressure Keeps Me Alive" can be streamed via BrooklynVegan with vinyl pre-orders available HERE.

Leading up to the recording of the new album, the band kept busy by releasing splits with THOU, FIGHT AMP and LADDER DEVILS, culminating with a run of west coast shows supporting stoner metal legends SLEEP. KOWLOON WALLED CITY's catalog can be streamed for free via their official site.

*[nyc.thedelimagazine.com] Frankly, it was hard not to fall for the bar-fly folk-punk frenzies of Wild Yaks' last full-length '10 Ships (Don't Die Yet)'; all were far too generous & genuine to be overlooked. Yet for any left on the fence after the first effort, the Brooklyn four-piece is back hitting harder, with a new album, the first single off which they debuted yesterday via Brooklyn Vegan. Title track 'A Million Years' (follow the link), coming at you invasively passionate, pushes hazardous harmonies overflowing with soul through crunching waves of dissonances and ever-changing rhythms, channeling the spirit of their debut in thrice as impactive an output that offers a most inviting glimpse into upcoming album 'Million Years' (to be released November 20th via Ernest Jennings Rec. Company). The band will be setting off on a series of dates with O'Death and The World Inferno Friendship Society right after the album release, starting on November 23rd in Amityville.
