Calgary's favorite prolific lo-fi songwriter Matthew Swann is back with new music from his bands, Extra Happy Ghost!!! and Astral Swans.
Extra Happy Ghost!!! has been a favorite at Exploding In Sound for several years now, and the band is only getting better. While initially planned for a new 7", Hippie Depression, their latest two song single is now available digitally via Bandcamp. The single contains new tracks "Choke Me Out Against The Wall" and a stellar cover of Minor Threat's "Filler". This single is not to be missed (it's all free to download). Astral Swans is Swann's appropriately named solo project, and a chance for him to expand his lo-fi recordings into new directions. New music is available in the form of Demos Fall 2012, a four track EP of... you guessed it, demos. Here's what Swann had to say about the recordings...
"The guitar and voice were tracked live with no edits (what ya here is what was played) by Rena Kozak, on Reimer's old tascam. Total tracking time: 4 songs in 45 minutes. Additional overdubs done in Swann's room, by Swann. Real real rough."
