[consequenceofsound.net] Ty Segall will release Twins, his third studio album of 2012, on October 9th via Drag City. In support, he’s released an asinine commercial featuring clips from hands down the worst films of all time: 1996′s The Stupids, 1996′s Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace, and 2004′s White Chicks. On the plus side, you get to hear little bits and pieces of his new LP to hold you over — though, admittedly, we’re still putting our heads back together following “The Hill”. Stream it below.
In other news, Segall will appear on a forthcoming Velvet Underground compilation with his current tourmate Thee Oh Sees. While their joint tour comes to an end this weekend, Segall has announced a duffel bag of European dates, which includes an appearance at Holland’s Le Guess Who Festival. In other Segall news...
I just want Ty Segall to play a wedding once, and dig into this cache of covers he’s been amassing over his career. He’s one to do Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”, Misfits’ “Where Eagles Dare”, any number of T-Rex songs, and recently a ridiculously awesome cover of AC/DC’s “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”.
Digging into the crate just a bit more, Segall and D. Watusi singer Dillon Watson offer a trashy yet faithful cover of Brian Eno’s “Needle in the Camel’s Eye” (via The Reader). The song, off Eno’s 1974 debut album Here Come the Warm Jets, serves as the B-side to a collaboration with Seth Sutton of Useless Eaters called, “I Hate Kids”. The 7″ was released by Nashville’s Dead Records, and was sadly only available at the celebration show the label threw in its hometown last week.
But you can stream Segall and Watson’s cover below.
