Ringo Deathstarr Ready "Mauve" + Tour Dates!

[press release] Austin TX based trio Ringo Deathstarr has announced a new full-length album for this fall. The group will release its second LP for Sonic Unyon Records (Young Rival, Kestrels, Megaphonic Thrift), “Mauve” on September 25th. Pitchfork is currently streaming “Rip” the first single from the album HERE. Mauve will be a follow up to 2011’s critically acclaimed LP “Colour Trip” which wowed media outlets and tastemakers worldwide. A small sampling of these outlets included CNN, Wired, Brooklyn Vegan and NPR, who all focused on the band as a highlight during SXSW 2011 (Ringo packed in no less than thirteen performances in the space of four days during the conference).

Composed of Elliott Frazier (guitar/vocals), Alex Gehring (bass/vocals) and Daniel Coborn (drums), Ringo Deathstarr plays music that possesses both massive amounts of overdriven distortion and shimmering melodies. The Guardian UK describes their sound by saying “There is a direct line between My Bloody Valentine, the Jesus and Mary Chain and Ringo Deathstarr. And it stops at Slowdive Central.” Frazier succinctly sums it up by saying “We write cool little pop songs but we just bury them under loud amounts of noise.”

One of Colour Trip’s hallmarks was its dizzying wall of guitar sound and underlying vocals; however Mauve boasts as much decibel power (if not more) as its predecessor while dialing back the sonic assault and raising the melodies. “Colour Trip was a great studio album but on Mauve we just wanted to write songs that we would have a blast playing live and could recreate easily on stage” says Frazier.

The band will be embarking on a five week U.S. tour this September and October (confirmed tour dates below). Ringo Deathstarr have previously toured the U.S., Europe and Japan. Some artists they have toured with include The Smashing Pumpkins, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of The Dead, Dean Wareham (Galaxie 500) and The Wedding Present.
