*[theprp.com] Non vinyl lovers will be pleased to know that the Melvins‘ forthcoming “1983” release will also be made available on CD. Amphetamine Reptile Records will begin selling the effort, which has five different covers, online later this week. “1983” features recent recordings from the groups 1983 lineup.
*[theprp.com] More songs from Refused‘s recent Maida Vale session for BBC Radio 1 have landed online. You can hear the band perform “Worms Of The Senses / Faculties Of The Skull“, “Refused Are Fucking Dead“, “The Shape Of Punk To Come” and “Coup D’Etat” at BBC.co.uk.

*[consequenceofsound.net] The Flaming Lips, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, and a bunch of other famous musicians have contributed to a new covers album in honor of Deep Purple’s Jon Lord, who died last month after suffering a pulmonary embolism. Re-Machined: A Tribute to Machine Head features 10 covers of tracks from Deep Purple’s 1972 album Machine Head.
Today, Ultimate Classic Rock is streaming six of those tracks, including “When A Blind Man Cries” by Metallica, “Smoke On The Water” by The Flaming Lips, “Pictures Of Home” by Black Label Society, and “Maybe I’m A Leo” by Smith, Glenn Hughes, and Luis Maldonado (Into The Presence) (via FutureHeartDay).
The album will be released on September 25th via Eagle Rock Entertainment.
