*[theprp.com] Quicksand returned to the airwaves last night, August 22nd. The group were the musical guests on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” and performed their tracks “Fazer” and “Omission” on the show. Footage of both songs taken from the broadcast has landed online below. (*note that the song names were mixed up on the Jimmy Fallon website at the time of this posting.)
The bands 1993 album Slip will receive a new limited edition vinyl pressing on September 11th. It will be made available on a variety of colors with more details available at HERE.
*[theprp.com] Minus The Bear are streaming their new album “Infinity Overhead” in full via their official website. The outing will land on store shelves this coming Tuesday, August 28th, via Dangerbird Records.
*[pitchfork.com] Throughout August, the Kill Rock Stars label has been sharing alternate takes of Elliott Smith cuts to celebrate his birthday. Following rare versions of "Alameda", "Punch and Judy", and "Angeles", the label today shares an outtake of Either/Or's "Ballad of Big Nothing", streaming above via Bandcamp. Kill Rock Stars is also selling Smith's entire KRS discography, bundled digitally as "The Indie Years", at a discounted rate throughout the month.
*Perhaps (featuring former members of Red Bellows) is the latest band making it's way into the incredible Boston music scene, and their debut Volume One should having them standing out. The power trio's single track, 38 minute record is a demonstration in the possibilities of prog rock, with far our guitars and rhythms that maintain a solid sense of structure throughout. The record was produced by Michael Thomas (Grass Is Green/SuperVolcano) and should be available digitally and on cassette soon. The band are hitting the road for a tour in support of the record, and all dates can be found at the link above. Check out Volume One (stoned and with headphones was how it was recommended to me)...
