[consequenceofsound.net] Red Hot Chili Peppers have a storied history of taking its time between releases. (For reference: Last year’s I’m With You followed up 2006′s Stadium Arcadium which followed up 2002′s By the Way. So, four to five years give or take.) Yet, according to a recent tweet by Flea, the band has “been writing stuff while touring” and will “put out 18 new songs over the next 6 months on 7 inch and digi.”
The news from Flea follows another tweet by drummer Chad Smith, who indicated that the band has at least 10 more B-sides off I’m With You to release. According to Exclaim.ca, singer Anthony Kiedis also weighed in, though not on Twitter but at a recent gig in Grand Rapids, MI, where he announced, “We got a storm of seven-inches coming out over the next six months. Keep one eye open.”
As Kiedis instructs, stay tuned as this story develops. In the meantime, check out the band’s current itinerary.
