*Extra Happy Ghost!!!'s Matthew Swann has formed a new project entitled Astral Swans. The project finds our favorite Calgary lo-fi indie rocker doing what he does best over sparse instrumentation and dense reverb. Check out their first track "Holly" HERE [or below], and look out for their full length later this year. The band will hit the studio to record the record at the end of the month, but not before playing Alberta's NAAG on June 15th and Edmonton's Elevation Room on June 16th.
*[press release] Punk blues duo LEFT LANE CRUISER have teamed up in Detroit with JAMES LEG (BLACK DIAMOND HEAVIES keyboardist and howler) for an album of incendiary cover tunes (Junior Kimbrough, Bob Seger, Hound Dog Taylor, Taj Mahal, John Lee Hooker, and more!). They are joined by Jim Diamond on bass, with 66 year old bluesman Harmonica Shah on harp, and the result is just what the doctor ordered, a hard-rocking gritty album to beat the blues! Check out their tour dates below. The album, entitled Painkillers, will be released June 26th on CD Digipak, Vinyl & Download by Alive Naturalsound Records.
