As you may or may not already be aware, Chicago's Geronimo! are one of Exploding In Sound's favorite DIY bands around. Their mix of post-punk, pop, and noisy progressive indie rock is infectious and generally creates a great bong ripping musical atmosphere. After releasing their stellar debut record Fuzzy Dreams in 2010, last year found the band self releasing it's follow up, the fantastically titled Buzz Yr Girlfriend: Vol I [you always get bonus points from us for Home Alone references]. Recorded live onto 4-track, the effort was rough on the production end to say the least, but Geronimo! swooped back in with their new album teaser just a few months after and all hope was restored. The band are now ready to release their next brilliant cassette, Buzz Your Girlfriend Vol 2: The Burden of Genius, due out June 23rd via Don't Give Up The Ship Records.
Opening the record with a cover of Beat Happening's "Indian Summer" and closing with "Battery Acid Soul Patch," a re-imagining of 2010's "Battery Acid Moustache," the inner workings of the cassette EP is filled with brand new Geronimo! goodness. Angular, bubbling, and catchy as flypaper, Geronimo! take the quirky intelligence of Harvey Danger and mix it with sharp bursts of Polvo inspired madness and swirling 90s indie rock charm.
