Quick Notes: Torche, Refused, Mastodon + More


*[theprp.com] Torche‘s forthcoming Flexi Disc release for “Decibel” magazine has arrived online. You can stream both of the bands previously unreleased tracks “Pow Wow” and “80s Prom Song” over at Soundcloud.

*[theprp.com] Refused have booked an April 18th performance at The Warfield in San Francisco, CA. The band will be joined by The Hives and The Bronx at the show.

*[theprp.com] Mastodon themselves have confirmed the rampant rumors that they will be embarking on a North American tour with Opeth and Ghost later this year. The band spoke to Stubru.be about the the tour, offering:

“…We go to Australia take part in the “Soundwave Festival“, which is going to be lovely… Take a short break. Do a North American tour with Opeth and Ghost. And then take another break and come back over here for the European festival season.”

The confirmation of the tour can be found around midway through the third interview clip featured on the above-mentioned site.

In other Mastodon related news...

Work is underway on Feist‘s Mastodon‘s cover. According to a recent tweet from Feist: “if people are expecting a cute twee cover of a metal song they have a big surprise comin. #Placebolivesagain”

The Placebo in her aforementioned tweet refers to the name of the Calgary punk band where she got her start. Sessions for her cover took place with singer-songwriter Mocky. Mastodon already tracked their cover of Feist‘s “A Commotion” earlier this year.

Both bands takes will appear on their upcoming split together, which is expected to surface for this years “Record Store Day“, April 21st.

*All The Saints have posted a video for "Half Red, Half Way" from their upcoming record Intro to Fractions. The album is set for release on January 30th...

*[theprp.com] Julie Christmas (Battle Of Mice, Made Out Of Babies) will perform a rare live show at St. Vitus in Brooklyn, NY on February 04th. Her backing band for the set will feature the following interesting roster of musicians:

*Washington, DC's HUME have released a brand new single "Phasing" which can be streamed via their official Bandcamp page HERE. The band will release their new album in April.
