[press release] Denton, Texas band Sundress have announced late winter 2012 tour dates in support of their self-released EP -- which is available now via Bandcamp. The tour begins on January 11 at Dan's Silverleaf in Denton and currently wraps up on January 28 at Double Wide in Dallas, TX. To celebrate the tour, the band is offering a download of the track "Derelict" (which you can also watch the band perform live below). Sundress will have additional dates to announce shortly -- current tour schedule below. [ed note: Sundress' self titled EP was included in our Top 5 EPs of 2011, which can be found HERE.]

Sundress is an American Psychedelic-Pop band, formed in 2010 by principle members Ryan McAdams, bassist Drew McCary and guitarist Kennon Talley. After several band name and member changes, they added keyboardist Jim Harrington and drummer Derek Kocich to round out its current lineup. Sundress' brand of ethereal dream-pop marries many influences ranging from Pink Floyd and The Beatles to Slowdive and Sparklehorse.

Sundress have self-released two EPs (Fever - 2010; Sundress - 2011) that led to praise from the likes of the Dallas Observer, Consequence of Sound, I Guess I'm Floating, Rawkblog, You Ain't No Picasso, Knox Road, Austin Town Hall, and more. Since their inception the band has played almost every major festival in Texas (SXSW, Nx35 Conferette) and supported the likes of Tame Impala, Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Washed Out, Stardeath and White Dwarfs, and Ringo Deathstar.

"Derelict," with its rush of electric guitars and an actual attempts at coherent pop structure and dynamics, will keep you pressing play. The track draws a lot on Grizzly Bear's haunting distance, almost to a fault, at least until the huge, wonderful Britpop chorus." - Rawkblog

"Beginning with a deep bass line, "Sundress" slowly moves into a melodic, shoegaze anthem highlighted by ethereal, spacey guitar accents that give things a necessary otherworldly distance. While that distance and underlying psychedelic element defies the nature of the band's name, the mood certainly gives resonance to the song's title." - Tympanogram

"On this single you'll hear squalling guitars and a quieted vocal that rests just on the crest of the compositions. At times, your ears will hear a shift in levels, with the traditional rise and fall of your every day dream pop. I can't wait to hear how their sound blossom and grows in the coming years, as this seems like a good musical investment for us all." - Austin Town Hall

"Hailing from Denton, TX, Sundress weave a '90s pop sound with the lighter side of shoegaze; there's a lot more Slowdive than My Bloody Valentine in their sound." - Knox Road

"Fortunately for us, the beginning bass is merely the start of a terrific track that builds and blossoms into a tango of lo-fi and melodic shoegaze that will leave your ears wanting more of what Sundress has to offer." - I Guess I'm Floating

"Derelict," is irrefutably the sweet spot; lyrics drone over melodic guitar, drums and a fluttering organ, combining for an intoxicating brew." - Dallas Observer
