Quick Notes: Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, The Horrors, David Bowie

*[consequenceofsound.net] What’s that saying – “Lightning in a bottle?” That perfectly describes The Horrors‘ recent cover of David Bowie’s always-anthemic hit “Suffragette City”. Captured for Channel 4′s One Take, the UK post-punk rockers gunned out their visceral, nail biting cover on one try (hence the title of the program), fine tuning Bowie’s juggernaut aggression. Catch the clip below, courtesy of ClubSeatUK, and then head over to Facebook to download the track.

The Horrors’ latest CoS Top Star-earning LP, Skying, is currently available everywhere.

*[theprp.com] The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman recently checked in via the bands official website. The update primarily covers the groups experience on their current tour with Mastodon and Red Fang and also features their own footage of their recent performance with Mike Patton in San Francisco, CA.

Most interesting though is Weinman‘s comments on Giraffe Tongue Orchestra (formerly known as Giraffe Tongue). At last glance the outfit was set to feature Weinman alongside Mastodon vocalist/guitarist Brent Hinds, former Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery and ex-The Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen. Speaking on that, Weinman offered:

“So about G.T.O (Giraffe Tongue Orchestra), Brent and I have already got new material. The guy just spits out riffs like a riff machine. Day off tomorrow in Colorado and we shall be working all day on sweet sweet melodies sure to make the young girls cry and the old one scream (not necessarily in that order)."
