[press release] UK garage-poppers Mazes have been handpicked by Sebadoh to support the beloved '90s indie rockers on their national tour, which kicked off October 25 with a sold out show at the Brillobox in Pittsburgh. The three-week run will traverse the East Coast, Mid-West and Southern United States and end in Brooklyn at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on November 12. Mazes are touring in support of their acclaimed debut LP, A Thousand Heys, released in April on FatCat Records. The London foursome got their first taste of the U.S. when they toured with White Denim over the summer.
Mazes have steadily been on the rise since the release of their first long-player and this tour is sure to keep the momentum going. Called "a throwback to 1990s left-of-the-dial: hook-laden pop rock" by Tiny Mix Tapes and "an impressive debut that crackles with vitality" by Mojo, their album bursts with 13 infectious tracks of jangly guitars, fuzz-laden bass lines, punchy percussion and undeniable pop hooks. "Mazes may share a bloodline with Dinosaur Jr and Pavement, but they also mix grunge and bubblegum pop, with Monkees-sized tunes and hooks big enough to feature on a fishing vessel," exclaimed London's The Guardian.
