Summer People Launch Kickstarter Campaign

A message from Summer People...

"On March 1, 2011 Summer People independently released Teamwork (via Low Light), the follow up to their full-length album Good Problems. Teamwork was recorded in January 2011 in Syracuse, NY. Following the release of Teamwork and a recent split entitled Do It, Summer People has been anticipating their time on the road throughout the remainder of 2011 and beyond. Pressing Teamwork on vinyl (approximately $3,000) will better allow the band to continue touring and releasing new records. For this Kickstarter venture, Summer People will be offering exclusive colored vinyl and test pressings of the Teamwork LP (and Good Problems LP), never again released 7" inches, and special t-shirts design by NY state artist/friend Mike Murray.

Where will additional project funding go beyond pressing Teamwork?

Summer People has just begun a seven-week tour with close friends from Cleveland, HotChaCha. The two bands will be sharing a van and playing 45 shows throughout the eastern and midwestern U.S. at DIY spaces, punk houses, venues, colleges, and festivals.

In preparation for the upcoming tour, members from each band have collaborated to plan and fund a project that will allow the 7,000+ mile tour to be fueled entirely by recycled Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO). The desire of both bands is to reduce traveling cost and intensive use of gasoline, by touring more sustainably. We hope to relay a message to friends and fans that reducing our dependence on petroleum based fuels (i.e. using recycled fuel) is a significant and positive way to affect the environmental, economic, and political status quo of our culture.

The secondary goal of this Kickstarter is to raise money to help with the costs of converting Summer People’s van into a WVO-powered beast! We need your help to tour all over the country on renewable fuel.

Once our Kickstarter "goal" is met at $4,000, our actual goal (to cover costs for both the vinyl and conversion) continues in order to reach $6,500. Any additional money beyond this goal will go directly in to pressing more albums, and allowing SP's music to reach more listeners. We sincerely thank you for your continued support!

See you at the upcoming shows this fall.

With love..." SummerPPL
