Crippled Black Phoenix Ready "(Mankind) The Crafty Ape" For Early 2012

A message from Crippled Black Phoenix...

"It’s a time of change and productivity. The new album entitled “(Mankind) The Crafty Ape” is recorded and it’s looking like a Jan/Feb release date. It was recorded and mixed at Chapel Studio in Lincolnshire and as a result, the songs on the album are sounding a lot bigger. This time there’s a generous dose of straight-up rock music, but it still retains the usual CBP nuances, the usual misery with a whiff of the macabre. All we can say about it is that... it is what it is, like it or not.

We’ll be playing some shows in November, in Germany and Poland. The trip will be just a short one this time, saving up time for a more extensive tour next February which will cover a lot more countries than ever before... hopefully! Look out for more news on that over the next couple of months. We wish we could do more, and soon we will.

So, the changes are

1) We now have a new label home, Mascot Records, the new album is the first one on this label.

2) Daisy has now departed the band to pursue her own solo project. She will be playing her last show with us next week (24th Sept) in Bern, Switzerland. We wish Daisy luck with everything in the future, she still remains a good and close friend and also left her mark on the album... you will hear the results in good time.

3) We have also parted company with Merijn, our drummer for over two years, he also played on four of the songs on “I, Vigilante”. The departure was simply down to musical difference and we also wish Merijn the best of luck.

As of now, we’re looking for Daisy’s (preferably female) replacement for piano/vocal duties in time for the short tour in November and also someone to fill the drum stool for the shows. We’ll be auditioning pretty soon, so any interested people should email us HERE or HERE. Only serious interest will be entertained, applicants must be reasonably local to Oxford, or at least willing to travel if not local, must have own equipment, be willing to dedicate time for touring/recording etc, be somewhat experienced in the ways of the world... or in the ways of “band life”... We’re pretty old and cynical (apart from one) in this band, so the suitable person must be prepared for nihilistic grumpiness mixed with utter defiance in the face of adversity.

That’s it for now.... Cheers."
