Walter Schreifels UK Tour Starts Next Week

[press release] New York hardcore legend, Walter Schreifels, returns to the UK next week for a solo tour, accompanied by a cast of old friends.

The current Rival Schools frontman and former member of Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today and more will be playing songs from 'An Open Letter To The Scene', his debut solo record, released last May by Oxford independent label, Big Scary Monsters. Drawing influence from many classic British artists such as Elvis Costello and Syd Barrett, the record embraces Walter's politically and socially charged past, with stripped down covers of Agnostic Front's 'Society Sucker' and CIV's 'Don't Gotta Prove It' (a song Walter wrote himself in '95), and seamlessly blends them in with newer tracks on topics ranging from matters of the heart in 'She Is To Me' to the life of celebrity in 'The Ballad Of Lil' Kim'. With an unquestionable wit and charm, Walter's shows are often more a gathering of friends than a punk rock show.

Unlike his last tour of the UK, he'll be joined by a merry band of New York pals this time, consisting of Gorilla Biscuits and CIV bassist, Arthur Smilios, Drew Thomas, drummer for Into Another and Crippled Youth, John Hergurth from Atlantic/Pacific on keys, and stand up comedian Dave Hill on guitar! Catch them next week on the following dates...

26.01 - Kingston, Fighting Cocks
27.01 - Cardiff, Clwb Ifor Bach
28.01 - Edinburgh, Cabaret Voltaire
29.01 - York, Fibbers
30.01 - Exeter, Cavern
31.01 - Cambridge, Haymakers
01.02 - London, Borderline
