Quick Notes: Radiohead, Neil Young, No Age + More

*[consequenceofsound.net] In news not derived via Google Translate, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke recently made an appearance at The Worldwide Awards 2011, where he presented Flying Lotus with the award for Album of the Year. As you can see in the video HERE (via Some Kind of Awesome), BBC 1′s Gilles Peterson caught up with the two men shortly after the presentation. What you don’t see, however, is the news that Yorke apparently shared with Peterson at some other point during the evening.

“I think we’re just lucky that Radiohead are having some free time at the moment. And Thom was just hanging out. He enjoyed himself. And there’s a new Radiohead album if you’re wondering. Just done I believe,” Peterson said during his Worldwide Awards highlights show on BBC 1. Listen to the clip HERE (the part about Radiohead begins at 1:26).

Much like every piece of Radiohead news, nothing is confirmed until an album shows up on what.CD or Jonny Greenwood issues a public proclamation. Either way, take some time to daydream.

*[FMQB.com] Neil Young will be honored with the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award at Canada's 40th annual Juno Awards on March 27 in Toronto. The award recognizes an outstanding Canadian artist whose humanitarian contributions have positively enhanced the social fabric of Canada, and it is given out by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS). "We are thrilled to salute Neil Young's committed and compassionate legacy," CARAS President and CEO Melanie Berry said in a statement. "As a driving force behind one of music's most successful fundraising events, Farm Aid, and a key participant in Live 8 right here at home, plus many other deserving causes and programs, his tenacity and spirit is highly regarded among his peers and serves as an inspiration to all of us."

I'm aiming to demo all ten songs while on tour. With any luck, I'll get them all done out there, so it will be ready to start developing when I get back. Rad."

Radiohead performed a new song on From The Basement which was aired on the Sky Arts channel recently here in the UK. Though I'm not sure when that programme was recorded, since the other tracks they played were lifted from Hail to the Thief.
