[filtermagazine.com] Traditionally known as a largely experimental, math rock outfit, Chicago's Maps & Atlases ventured into more easily accessible pop-influenced territory on this year's excellent debut full-length, Perch Patchwork. With the wise guidance of producer Jason Cupp (The Elected, Nurses), the album showcases the band's greatest strengths in superb musicianship, interesting compositions, and intricate technical knowledge, without going too technical for the wary crowd. Today, as the band is just kicking off on a new fall tour, we're excited to premiere an exclusive new remix from Cupp for the track "Carrying The Wet Wood."
Just as listeners who are prog-wary will still love the album, the remix-wary crew will find plenty to love about this tastefully stripped-back and re-worked track. Listen below, and catch the band on tour this month (full dates below). Perch Patchwork is out now via Barsuk Records.
