Spanish Psych/Garage Rockers Capsula Set For CMJ

Spanish psychedelic rockers Capsula are set to play their final US show of the year during the CMJ Music Marathon on New York City on Thursday, October 21st. The band will be performing as part of The Musebox CMJ Showcase at Bowery Electric. The showcase will also feature EIS favorites White Belt Yellow Tag. See what the press have been saying about Capsula...

"Capsula sounded alternately like straight-up scuzzy garage punk and like Death Valley 69-era Sonic Youth... Pretty good!" - Pitchfork

"... A high-velocity union of the Cramps and the Who, coated in corroded glam." - David Fricke, Fricke's Picks - Rolling Stone

"SXSW 2010: My favorite bands so far: Capsula, co-ed trio that raises a roller coaster din fusing acid-rock with punk brio." - Greg Kot, Chicago Tribune

After storming SXSW 2010 earlier this year, the sexy, dark and trés cool Capsula stunned the US, gaining press notoriety with Rolling Stone's David Fricke giving a brilliant review for 'Fricke's Picks', Wired and Chicago Tribune placing the three-piece in the top 10 most exciting bands at the festival.

Now, after playing Culture Collide Festival, Decibelle Festival and a lengthy West Coast Tour, Capsula are hitting NYC for CMJ for their last shows.

With smashing reviews comparing the band to the Cramps and The Who, Capsula bring their own version of punk to blend with guitar psychedelia akin to Pink Floyd.

In 2009 BCore Disc (one of the greatest indie labels in Spain) published 'Rising Mountains', creating a wild energy of post-punk blues sounds with noise and psychedelia. The album hit Number 1 in the Spanish press (Ruta 66, Mondosonoro-Euskadi) and was revered as one of the best 10 albums on air in the US.

The trio has been on a hectic road with a tour schedule of over 100 shows at festivals in Europe and America, launching 'Rising Mountains', a fascinating strange shock of adrenaline and sounds straight to your heart and bones.
