Delft Call It Quits

Delft have decided to call it a day, here's what they had to say...

"When we said that there were going to be two news updates leading up to the release of our record, we weren't expecting that this was going to be the second one. We've decided that Delft as we know it will be coming to an end. There are a few reasons attached to this decision - probably the biggest is that we had been facing the possibility of more lineup changes and decided that instead of doing our best Guns N' Roses impersonation, we are going to change our name and write new music.

What this means is that the new Delft record is most likely not going to be seeing the light of day. As we write this, it is still unfinished. We've already written five brand new songs and were talking about recording them as an EP, and it wouldn't make much sense to put out newer material before the record that we've been hyping up forever. This means that our last show is probably going to be the final time a lot of this material is played live. Out of respect for everyone who had a hand in creating everything we've done, the only sensible thing to do would be to retire these tunes. We may retain a few to fill out a live set and there may be a few that may survive long enough to make it onto a future release - right now this is something that we are still uncertain of. We're not sure if or when 'If Anything Should Happen' will be coming out - right now the only possibility is a posthumous release and that's not something we've really addressed yet.

So in the interests of moving forward, most of us are going to be resurfacing under a new band name within the next few weeks (as soon as we can decide on a name!) and then we will be playing shows with the new songs we've written. We're going to have some fresh new faces along for the ride too!

So in closing, the last few years have been wicked. We've been through a lot and we reached a point where we can objectively decide that we've done everything we can do as Delft. We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to everyone who has been a part of this - Jay, Jeff, Rob, Fish, Matt, Dan, Ryan and Will. We would like to extend another THANK YOU to our fans who have stuck with us all of these years. We love all of you."
