Introducing: Drawing Mountains

I was recently introduced to Drawing Mountains, a fantastic young band from Michigan. When it came down to write about the band, I decided their letter to me was the perfect introduction. The band are offering their well crafted debut album Ventures for free download [link is below]. Be sure to grab that, as it really is a great listen. Here's what they had to say...

"Hi, we're Drawing Mountains. We're a 3 piece indie/rock/prog/whatever group from Sterling Heights, Michigan. We like your normal band things: getting buckwild, swinging instruments about recklessly, jumping around till you're drenched in sweat, and singing/screaming at the top of lungs. You know, the finer things in life. Well, we recently self-released our first full length album titled "Ventures", it's a 30-something minute long gapless album meant to be listened to all the way through like back in the day. It's our labor of love and as such we decided we'd share it with everyone we could by releasing it for FREE. However, we only know so many people and those people only know so many people so we're sending it out to places to try and spread the word. So, we hope you enjoy listening to it and, if you do, we'd appreciate it if you could spread the word.

You can download the album and artwork HERE or stream it from our Myspace."

InForty.com described the record as, "Along the lines of Appleseed Cast, Settlefish, Bear Vs Shark, and something more experimental, the Michigan trio’s debut is a fairly messy and raw – but impressively ambitious – endeavor. There’s plenty of head-nodding jazzy melodicism, and you can sense the passion that’s gone into the record. To say it’s worth the free download is an understatement."
