[NME.com] Arctic Monkeys played one of their biggest headline indoor shows to date tonight (November 17) as they brought their latest album 'Humbug' to London.
Kicking off with 'Dance Little Liar' at Wembley Arena, the Sheffield four-piece went on to perform six further tracks from their chart topping LP.
Pausing before their first Number One hit single 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, singer Alex Turner introduced the band by saying,"Hello everybody, it's Arctic Monkeys at Wembley Arena," before he whipped the crowd up for a stunning rendition of the song.
The band - joined by their live keyboard player and extra guitarist John Ashton (their former soundman) who they recruited over the summer - then barely paused between songs as they performed a set that drew from all three of their albums.
Playing on a stripped down stage which projected each individual band member on giant TV screens much like their 'Live At The Apollo' DVD, Alex Turner and co were greeted with huge cheers when they played hits such as 'Brianstorm', 'Still Take You Home' and 'The View From The Afternoon'.
But the new songs were also well received by the crowd with much of the audience singing along to most of the tracks from 'Humbug'.
Introducing forthcoming single 'Cornerstone' Turner joked: "This is a more gentle one for everybody."
Later the whole venue sang the intro to 'When The Sun Goes Down' before the crowd were showered with white ticker tape during 'Secret Door'. The band rounded off their show, which was held in support of Teenage Cancer sufferers, by segueing 'Fluorescent Adolescent' with 'Mardy Bum'. They ended the their performance with 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' closer '505'.
