Jodis (featuring members of Isis and Khanate) Announce Debut Album, "Secret House," Out October 27th on Hydra Head! Here is some more information about the project...
"James Plotkin crushes, detunes and detuningly crushes Khanate into the most beautifulest kind of sonic sludge this side of John Cage." - EQ Magazine
"Like the Spirit of God blowing over the face of the waters, Plotkin [orders] the chaos." - All Music Guide
"Devoutly underground for a decade - running the independent-as-fuck Hydra Head label, designing his own album covers, playing eight-minute-long art-metal monoliths that defy pop music’s short attention span." - Revolver Magazine on Aaron Turner
"Turner is both aurally and visually expanding the boundaries of the genre way beyond the devilish goat’s farm range." - Mass Appeal
"Wyskida offers up subtle little shuffles, simple plodding thuds or wild octopoidal squalls, depending on the mood." - Aquarius Records
Jodis, an entirely new outfit involving James Plotkin (Khanate, Khlyst, Phantomsmasher, O.L.D.) Aaron Turner (ISIS, Old Man Gloom, Lotus Eaters, House of Low Culture, GREYMACHINE) and Tim Wyskida (Khanate, Blind Idiot God), is a modern exploration of restrained sonic minimalism and tonal/textural density. Jodis' "Secret House," as a whole, recalls a void, a shoreless pit, a slow nihilistic decent into absolute blankness... The vocals emote a deviating distress, one that the listener will walk away from also knowing. The guitars loom with an almost inconceivable image of stillness. The percussion possesses an irregular circularity facilitating the general disorientation encapsulating the mood of the record. In summation, a thorough listen would kick the living shit out of your aptitude for co-habituation with other humans.
