Super-blues-psych-trio Indeed

Peacedogman.com has posted their review of KAMCHATKA - "Volume III", 2009 (Superpuma)...

"The super-blues-psych-trio strikes again!

Rarely does an album hit the dog site that we actually like. Even rarer does an album hit that we like enough for a feature. Needless to say, it's pretty damn rare that an album inspires the theme for an entire month. Sweden's KAMCHATKA have effectively done this, inspiring 'power trio month' with the release of "Volume III".

If you despise all things related to psychedelia or 70s-inspired jams, this is not for you. But those with any inkling of interest in bands like CLUTCH, HENDRIX, NOVEMBER, or KING'S X, this disc should provide a veritable garden of delights. "Pathetic" is anything but, Thomas Andersson's riff thunder falling away into shimmery, dramatic blues rife with his fabulous tone and touch. The playful lyrics and warm, soaring vocals of "Astrobucks" lock into synch with Tobias Strandvik's deft drumming, slyly boosted by colorful, lurking organ lines. The man's solos never seem to wear out their welcome, even during lengthier texts. Of course, the standout track may be "Look Over Your Shoulder", built as it is upon hazy, acoustic clouds that drift headlong into herky-jerky riffing and fantastic organ/guitar interplay. Be sure to check out our brief exchange with bassist Roger Öjersson on some of the background behind this extraordinary band." - Marchman
