First Impressions:
- Opening track, “Sewn Together,” acts as a prelude to the Meat Puppets new sound, which embraces even more of the band’s country side.
- There still is a good share of tracks that retain the classic sound the band became famous for, including “Blanket of Weeds” and “Clone.”
- The Meat Puppets definitely sound different in the oddity “The Monkey and Snake” which makes you want to do a line dance and has only eight lines including, “This is a story of a monkey and a snake. The monkey hit that sucker with a rake. The snake then bit the monkey on the hand and now the monkey is singing in a band.” Wow, thanks guys.
- There is lots of guitar picking and whistling in a couple tracks, reminiscent of the glory days of Meat Puppets II and Up On the Sun.
Key Tracks:
“Blanket of Weeds,” “Clone,” “The Monkey and Snake”
Prediction:
Only the second album to be released after the Meat Puppets' reunion, the band definitely has transgressed to embracing and blending different sounds, leaving them sounding almost like a completely different group
