Here is an update from As Tall As Lions from their myspace page...
Hey Yall - Cliff here, drummer/beatmaster party-dude haha
We are headed to Los Angeles on January 4th, 2009 to Record with producer Adam Lasus (clap your hands say yeah, yo la tengo).
Can't tell you how much we appreciate your patience with us. Writing an album has always been an all-in or nothing experience for us - and this time is no different. Here's what I can tell you - we have written about 20 songs or so, and already picked the first (9) of those that we can all agree on.The (tentative) song titles thus far!
Album: You Can't Take It With You (the first 9!)
Sweet Hereafter
Duermete
See the Love
The Narrows
Paris
Latino Proper
Piano Loop

Lost My Mind
After demoing and re-demoing and trying to find chemistry with several record producers, you can imagine the urgency there is within our camp to get in the studio and finalize these songs. It's safe to say that we all agree we are happiest as live band - and the intention is to try and capture some of that magic on this album. We plan to record as much of this record live as possible - meaning playing together on record as opposed to recording one instrument at a time. This is very exciting for us - something we've never tried but know will be essential to taking this album much farther this go around. Our intention is to record 15-16 of our most current tracks - then choose top dogs from there. Either way more b-sides = musical goodness!
And the music? Well, I personally believe we've outdone ourselves again - Let me put it to you this way. Where I feel our most recent EP "Into the Flood" continues our thought process as a band where we left off with our self-titled, I feel this new album jumps ahead several releases in that light - creativity, use of instruments, exaggeration of our best assets. And by exaggerated I mean the songs are more dynamic .. louder, faster, slower and more ambient, trippy and etheral. My favorite albums take me to another place - a feeling of being safe within the musical experience. I honestly feel that we have achieved this even to a higher level than our self-titled this time. I'm gushing (*slap*) & and ill stop there. I'm too excited over here --
thanks it peoples, appreciate the continued support, and looking forward to our annual NY HOLIDAY SHOW/PARTY! always good times with atal...
